Surgeon


Sanjay Miranda
is a Consultant who has trained in Orthopaedic Surgery and had further training to specialise in Hand, Upper Limb and Peripheral Nerve surgery. He has been a full-time Hand Surgeon since 2003 and a Consultant since 2005. Sanjay was a Consultant in a Major Trauma Centre as a full-time Hand Surgeon and also part of a multi-disciplinary team treating major trauma to the upper limb.

Since April 2019, he has moved to North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust to complement the team of 4 Hand Surgeons to build the Hand Trauma service. 

His Orthopaedic training has been in Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham and Coventry. He has additionally spent 2 years of Fellowship training in internationally recognised centres of excellence in Hand & Upper Limb surgery in Derby and Sydney. 

He and his Team treat on average over 90 patients a week through the practice. His patients include professional and amateur sports-persons and musicians.

His clinical and research interests are in hand fractures, wrist ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, Dupuytren's disease, scaphoid fractures and peripheral nerve conditions. Many organisations and groups have invited Sanjay to give talks in areas of his expertise and interest. He enjoys teaching and education is involved in hand Surgery education to students, doctors and other health professionals.

In his time outside work, Sanjay enjoys time with his family, playing golf, travel & all things automotive.
